Smart phone or tablet
help :
(Eventually, maybe I can figure out how to alter the home
page [http://dbhale.com/index.html] so that it is more easily accessed
by most smart phones and tablets.)
Currently I have the following mobile devices to test these pages:
- Kindle Fire HD
- Samsung Android tablet
- iPhone 5
(My Kindle Fire has no problem when clicking on Google's search result
for "dbhale".)
My Samsung Android (default browser) and iPhone (Safari) both attempt
to access a mobile page [http://m.dbhale.com/] when clicking on
Google's search result for "dbhale".
Workarounds :
- Android browser - There are some hidden settings which allow
desktop version pages to load. It did work for me. See:
http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20066684-285/how-to-force-nonmobile-web-site-versions-on-android-browsers/
- Iphone - No solution found for Safari except that if the address
is modified to "http://dbhale.com/index.html", the front page may be be
viewable. (This worked on my iPhone.) A bookmark can be
saved to make it easy to return. The free Atomic browser
(Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.) does not have the
necessary setting, but the paid Atomic browser description
(http://www.macworld.com/product/371769/atomic-web-browser-browse-fullscreen-w-downlo.html)
describes a User Agent Switcher setting to allow viewing desktop
version pages.
- I ran across this text when researching this subject :
"Window's Phone has an option in their settings which is
convenient." I did not trace this further...
Please email me if you have a difficult time viewing these
pictures. Thanks.
